Gilbert Sinoué
Author of: Book of Sapphire, The Falcon Gilbert Sinoué was born in Cairo, in 1947. He has been living in Paris since 1966. Native from Egypt he belongs to both Arabic and Western cultures. He is both historian and novelist. Gilbert has written more than thirty novels, essays and biographies. Most of them deal with the Arab world and are translated in over than 15 languages. In parallel with his work as a novelist, Gilbert Sinoué is a screenwriter and dialogist. He writes for the French television. The “Book of Sapphire”, was awarded the Booksellers’ Prize in 1996, which selects the best novel of the year according to booksellers’ choice. His last work is a fictionalized biography of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, entitled “The Falcon”. In 1997, the French government awarded Gilbert Sinoué Knight of the Arts and Literature, one of the most prestigious decorations in the cultural field.
